Walk of Fame

Established in 1992, this promenade that leads up to the arena features players, coaches, and announcers from New York teams through the years. There are around 50 plaques dedicated to everyone from basketball legends and tennis players to hockey stars and boxers.


  • What kinds of events happen at MSG?

    Over the years, the arena has hosted many different types of activities from boxing and tennis matches to political conventions and Wrestle Mania. It is also home to the famous Westminster Dog Show and the annual National Invitational Tournament for NCAA college basketball. Some of the biggest names in music have played here including the Rolling Stones, Jackson Five, and Paul McCartney just to name a few.
  • How many retired jerseys hang from the rafters?

    There are many banners in Madison Square Garden including 7 from the Rangers like Mike Messier and 8 from the Knicks like Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, and Patrick Ewing. There are even banners dedicated to Billy Joel and Elton John as well as tennis stars and college basketball coaches.
